Lightbulb 1k for skills, crazy or not?

I am not sure if this post should go here or not, if not please move it (I am also not sure if a post like this was already made).

Does anyone think that its absurd that the skills in Old Ascalon cost 1platinum?

For the new players that just set up an account its a bit difficult to get 1plat in pre-searing (only with 2/3 of my chars i got 1plat+ in pre-searing). I think that the prices should go up start of at some low price in Old Ascalon, and increase it when you get to Northern Shiverpeaks, then increase again in Kryta, then in Maguuma Jungle, and in the Crystal Desert, South Shiverpeaks and beyond the prices for skills to be 1platinum.

My proposal:
Old Ascalon price per skill= 50gp
South Shiverpeaks price per skill= 250gp
Kryta (LA,Beetletun,etc.)= 500gp-750gp
Maguuma Jungle and First Desert (Ventaris Refuge, Maguuma Stade,etc.)=750gp
Crystal Desert, South Shiverpeaks, and beyond= 1k

This will keep the economy a bit more equal before Crystal Desert, since the green items/super rare/expensive items are available mostly in Crystal Desert and beyond the economy will be stable there too.

EDIT:

I agree with your idea AncientPC, but I still think that skills should become more expensive as you progress. So price increases as you buy skills, and as you progress.
NOTE: I dont mind if you flame.

This is a good idea, but they need to re-arrange the skills so the better ones come nearer to the end. And skills only go up to 1 plat if you buy (insert amount here) skills. Spend your money and skill points wisely =P It is a good idea BTW.

They don't cost 1 platinum for new players.
They cost you that much because you've spent a bunch of skill points already.

Exactly.

Besides, I've gone through the game and got all the quest skills before I started buying skills. Wait till you get to ember light camp before you start buying.

Well, I haven't found it -too- hard to get the money together. I do all the skill quests, and by the time I reach Droknar's, when my skills are starting to cost 750+ or so, it's usually easy enough to farm as much money as I have skill points. I still like the cheaper system (of course) but I don't think this one is particularly unfair to new players or anything.

/notsigned. By the time I was buying skills in pve, I had completed the game and was just getting them since I had money to spend and wanted to be complete.

If a new character does all the skill quests, then skills are not overpriced at all. I took a ranger through the game (to see how new players would fare) and I found that skills only started to cost 1 plat each by the time I hit the ember light camp and had all my primary and secondary skills, and by then I was only buying signets of capture for elites. I only had money problems because I was trying to buy 15k armour at the same time, so a new player would have no problems affording everything, so long as they took the time to play the game, and not run the entire way.

Plus, by the time skills start to be even slightly expensive, you can easily farm for 10 minutes (or less, depending on where you go) to get the required gold for a skill.

^^ I'm with him.

My only problem is when you change profession and need to buy skills for new secondary profession.

They should make the price increment depending on profession. Say you have bought 5 skills for Necro and only 2 for Monk, Monk skills would cost cheaper than Necro's.

If you change profession, that is something extra that you decided to do...you think it'd be really easy?

I think skills are fine the way they are.

I agree here.

I'm currently on a mission to buy every skill for ever profession on every character, so this would suit me perfectly.
